October is National Dental Hygiene Month. That means everyone is being reminded to take care of their teeth. At allheart, we think it’s also a good to show your appreciation to the folks who help maintain those sparkling smiles.
Now’s a great time to say thanks to your favorite dentist or dental hygienist with a dental themed scrub top or accessory. Or grab a tooth-themed top, watch or pin for yourself. That way, you’ll feel and look great while reminding folks to brush, floss and rinse!
Remind folks to “give a hoot” about brushing in this adorable mock wrap scrub top from Cherokee.
Remind them “it’s time for a cleaning,” while wearing this Whimsical Watches domed watch with miniature toothbrush & toothpaste.
Here’s a “sweet tooth” pin from Prestige Medical that’s part of our complete collection of dental accessories.
Summer is in full blast, which means you’ll probably be spending lots of time outdoors in the sun. Even though the beach may be calling your name, don’t forget to keep your skin safe while having fun. With just a few precautions, you can lower your chances of skin cancer and also prevent damage from powerful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Here are 5 easy tips to protect your skin:
- Use sunscreen! Look for at least SPF 30 and a “broad-spectrum” label. This will protect your skin against ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays.
- Reapply sunscreen throughout the day, especially after swimming. Even if the sunscreen is water-resistant, it is recommended to apply another layer after any sweat-inducing activities.
- Wear protective clothing, such as a light, long-sleeved shirt (like this one from Cherokee Workwear) or a hat and sunglasses to keep your eyes safe in the sun. Trust Your Journey sells several cute hats and visors that are perfect for outdoor outings.
- Try to avoid the sun between 10am-4am. The sun’s rays are the strongest during these hours, so search for the nearest patch of shade if you can.
- Look out for reflective surfaces. Sand, water, and snow can reflect harmful UV rays onto your skin, giving you a dreaded sunburn. Even if the sun isn’t out, you can still be affected by the UV rays.
Also, July is UV Safety Month, so it’s an opportune time to show some love to your skin. Encourage friends and family to adopt positive habits to prevent skin cancer and UV damage.

June 1st marks the beginning of National CPR/AED Awareness Week. This week highlights the importance of learning how to administer CPR and AEDs (automated external defibrillators). In the U.S. alone, nearly 250,000 to 300,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) each year. The heart unexpectedly stops beating, and oxygen is deprived from the brain and other vital organs. SCA can claim a victim in only minutes, and many times 911 emergency respondents are too late to the scene.
CPR gives bystanders the ability to save a life during an emergency. A victim of SCA’s chances of survival almost double when CPR is applied within the first few minutes. It is also encouraged to learn how to use an AED—a machine that attaches to the victim and applies timed electrical shocks. This can also help save those suffering from sudden cardiac arrest.
If you want to learn CPR, find your local American Red Cross chapter. The American Red Cross always offers CPR & AED classes, and they are even hosting special events during CPR/AED Awareness Week. allheart also sells CPR tools if you need equipment for a class or work. It’s never too late to be trained how to save someone’s life, educate yourself today.
